Can you feel fall in the air?
It’s about that time again: the leaves are changing, fashion magazines weigh almost as much as dictionaries, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back in Starbucks and it’s time to buy a new wardrobe–or at least find a few key pieces that’ll give your closet an update. Ahh fall! Before you start stocking up on all thing’s fresh for the season, what’s already in your closet? Probably more wearable options from last year than you think. Here’s a flashback to some styles you might already have that are worth pulling out again for another go round.
1. Blazers
They’ve proven to be a multi-season classic and they’re sticking around…again. For fall try mixing a wool-blend version with feminine fabrics like sheer or lace or slip, pop a scarf underneath, mix it with skinny jeans or incorporate other nods to menswear–which fits right into this season’s tailored trend.
2. Dark Florals
While floral are often associated with spring and summer, last year’s stormier prints were perfect to mix with inky pieces like black tights and boots and will fit right in again with the more somber colors and pieces this season. If your florals are brighter, try adding a cardigan that matches the dress’ color palate.
3. Ruffles
This feminine finish popped up on bags, shoes, dresses, shirts, bathing suits–you name it–over the last year. Wearing one key piece, like a cardigan, is a fresh way to keep getting your frills.
4. Oxford Shoes
The grandpa-turned-universal shoe for every hipster in America still looks cool with a variety of pieces from skinny pants to dresses and looks sleek dressed up or down.
5. Over-the-Knee Boots
The sexy stiletto versions are still hot, but this fall you’ll also see styles that are more casual and flatter–which means stylish options that give your feet a break.
What other styles will you recycle from last fall?
